This class is not for residents of Saratoga County.
We teach about state and local laws and permit holder's responsibilities, the various types of handguns and ammunition you may encounter, safe handling of handguns, cleaning of firearms, and home firearm safety. Our class includes personalized hands-on instruction with replica firearms from our cadre of 15+ of the most experienced firearm instructors in the region. We typically limit our class size to 25 participants in order to maximize our Instructor/Student interactions. During the COVID-19 pandemic we will limit our classes to 12-13 students in order to protect our license applicants and instructors. Local applications for pistol licenses have been steadily increasing, as has demand for our training class, so we strongly encourage early registration for our class! Be sure that you really want to take the class before you make your reservation, as our fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
It's actually pretty simple. The best method is to register for a class on our website that is convenient for your schedule. You must pay for the class during the online registration process. Pre-registration and non-refundable pre-payment is required. Once you complete the class we will notify the relevant pistol permit bureau of your completion. That's it. For those who might not have internet access to register online, we can accept your payment by check or postal money order (no cash!), payable to "SAFE-T, Inc"... and sent to"SAFE-T, Inc." - Post Office Box 4126, Queensbury NY 12804. Include your contact information (name, address, email address, and date of birth) and class dates (both first choice and second choice class dates). Please submit your mailed registration and payment at least one week in advance of your desired class. Classes are in very high demand and fill quickly several weeks in advance. By using the US Mail registration process we cannot promise to fulfill your requested class date, but we will try.

The pandemic disrupted our calendar. Due to surges in COVID-19 cases we have had to cancel numerous classes during the past year. If we do need to cancel a class for which you have booked a seat, we will simply move you into the next available class. Sorry for the inconvenience. Be safe!
Please don't register for a class and then decide you want to re-schedule to another date at the last minute. Our classes are limited in size, and this deprives someone else from attending. Our fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
For the current status of a particular class for which you've registered, please call the SAFE-T President, Rick Haag at 793-6527.
We charge $35 for the class. We use the PayPal payment service. If you are a PayPal member you can simply pay from your PayPal account. If you are not a PayPal member you can simply pay as a PayPal "Guest". Simply scroll down the payment screen to pay with your major credit card. This process uses high-level security encryption so your information is safe and secure. Our fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Don't be fooled if you come across a similar-sounding pistol license safety class offered for "free". Ask what you get for free? We will not only give you the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting book, a ~$35 value, but our instructors will also teach this critical material. We will also give you a strong firearm cable lock.
You will also be protected by our enhanced safety protocols. We'll take your temperature on arrival with our infrared non-contact forehead thermometer, we'll give you generous squirts of hand sanitizer, and you'll complete a COVID-19 health screening questionnaire before admission to the class. All of our students and instructors will be required to wear a face mask/covering, we'll wear gloves to handle our demonstration firearms, and all of our touchable surfaces are seriously disinfected before and after each class. You should ask... Who else does this???
Once you complete this class you have three years to submit your application to the Warren County pistol permit bureau. After three years you would need to re-take the class.
You can email us at safet.course@gmail.com if you have specific questions about our class. General questions about the pistol permit process should be directed to the Warren County Pistol Permit Bureau at (518) 761-6516.
